MAILING & PRINTING FORMAT REQUIREMENTS

Exec-U-Mail Direct's guide for submitting your printing and mailing media can help expedite your project and and achieve significant cost-savings.
MAILING FORMATS
- We can handle Compact Disks, CDs, 3.5" floppy disks and zip disks, in all density levels, in MS-DOS format. Macintosh diskettes will have to be converted to MS-DOS format.
- Preferred format is DBase III+ (or 2 or 4)
- We can also accept diskettes in ASCII, either SDF (Fixed field length) or comma delimited formats. We can also accept Mail-Merge formats if the data is saved in ASCII (also called DOS text or just text).
- ASCII disk must be accompanied by a layout identifying the data fields and their maximum field lenghts.
- Preferred data format is for all name and address elements to be in separate fields, as follows:

First Name (may contain Salutation & Middle Name or Initial)
Last Name
Title
Company
Address
Address #2 (if used)
City
State
Zip
Zip4 (may be included as part of zip code field)
CART
We can handle first and last names in one field. City, State, and Zip/Zip4 in one field can also be accomadated, but we would prefer to receive all address elements in separate fields.
MAILING FORMATS
Is your design mailable?
Exec-U-Mail recommends sending us a comp, or mockup, of your design before your artist has spent many hours on a design that is not post office compatible. The mail piece should be in a rectangular shape to be able to get postage discounts. When a designer brings us a square mail piece there is a postage surcharge of up to 11 cents per piece.
Artwork requirements
Artwork can be sent to us as a digital file, either Macintosh based or PC format is acceptable. A FTP site is used to transfer larger files, email is acceptable for small files or text files. In either case, please include all fonts, photos, attachments, etc.
Blue line or color proof
In most cases you will receive either a blue line or color proof.
